Protected: Exam 1 Spring 2016

DUE DATE: March 16, 2016 at 11:59 PM INSTRUCTIONS: You are permitted to use your textbook and class notes. If you use any other reference, please make sure you disclose the source. Paragraphs, essays, solutions/answers lifted from all other sources (including your friend(s) or group member(s) in class) will not be graded and a score of zero may be attributed to the corresponding exercise or the whole exam. Your submission must reflect your own individual work. There will be no makeup exams. The Lateness Factor for the midterm is: lf = (10 – ln(h))/10, where h is the number of hours late and ln(h) is the natural log of h. Your effective score (ESCORE) will be the actual score (ASCORE) of the exam multiplied by the lateness factor (lf). If the exam is submitted an hour late, ESCORE = ASCORE and no penalty is incurred. if submitted 2 hours late, lf becomes 0.93 and ESCORE = 0.93 * ASCORE. If submitted 12 hours late, lf = 0.75, and thus, ESCORE = 0.75 * ASCORE.  Attempt all exercises for a total of 100 points. All of your answers must be compiled in one single file and uploaded to your Google Drive. For more details, see exercise 5.  Good luck. Based on your own personal experience, identify an LIU process, which you believe is either inefficient or ineffective. Briefly describe the process and discuss the issues you have encountered. Are the issues related to efficiency or effectiveness or both? How would you change the process to make it...
